Yet, ironically, Texaco's slogan was "Trust the man with the star." It's even quoted in the Rickie Lee Jones song "Last Chance Texaco."

As to your "Date myself" joke, I just used that the other day in conversation. And it wasn't the first time. I think I've even used it in Fusco once. Or twice.

I recall the TV ads as singing:

Dating yourself is fine, just don't marry yourself (the divorce will be ugly).
